United Nations Special Rapporteur



Special Rapporteur of UN is anIndependent Expert  working on behalf of the United Nations (UN) who has a specific mandate from the United Nations Human Rights Council, either a country mandate or a thematic mandate.  The word "Rapporteur" is a French- word meaning for an investigator who reports to a deliberative body.
The duty of the mandate under the United Nations is to "examine, monitor, advise, and publicly report" on human rights issues through "activities undertaken by special procedures,which  includes the responding to individual complaints, other activities like  psychological operations which includes manipulation via the controlled media and academia, conducting various studies,making numerous reports also providing advice on technical cooperation at the regional or country level, and engaging in general promotional activities. 
Special Rapporteurs often do fact-finding missions to many countries to look into the situations and also investigate on allegations of human rights violations. They can only make to visit countries  that have agreed to invite them.
 Rapporteurs regularly look into various complaints and assess and verify complaints from alleged victims of human rights violations. Once a complaint is got it is verified and urgent action is taken on behalf and an urgent appeal or letter to sent to the concerned authorities and governments  that has allegedly committed the violation. If there is complaint or no one makes a complaint , Rapporteurs can on behalf of people or groups can intervene to the case.
